|| The Foundling || Stacey Halls || Book Review 4⭐️ ||
Gripping, atmospheric, emotional.
1754, Bess leaves her newborn baby girl, at the Foundling Hospital in London, vowing to save enough money up to collect her as soon as she is able. Six years later she returns to find the baby has already been claimed by someone posing to be her. How far will she go to find her daughter and get her back?
The first few chapters tore my heart out. 💔 Halls manages to portray, with such emotion, the heart - wrenching decision it must have been, to give up their babies to try and give them a better life. The storyline is so gripping throughout, taking you on a whirlwind journey through Georgian London. It felt like I couldn’t put the book down. Can’t wait to see what Stacey Halls puts her pen to next, I loved both the Familiars and the Foundling.
Historical fiction classic.
