|| Queenie || Candice Carty-Williams || • Book Review 5 Star
A bold, unapologetic story that made me laugh out loud, cry and cringe along.
Queenie is a 26 year old trying to navigate through her messy life, dealing with unresolved emotional trauma, unworthy men and crazy London rental prices. It follows her heading face first into a breakdown with her friends and family along for the ride.
Such an emotional rollercoaster we venture on with Queenie, I loved Carty - Williams style of writing, it flowed so well. The daily struggles that most late 20’s women can relate to, the anxiety and stress of modern life.
However it shines a bright light on the unique prejudices that Queenie experiences being a young black female in today’s society.
Amazing book that every young woman should read. A character worthy of her title.
